Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) today released India’s ‘GSM Subscriber Figures for December 2011. Idea Cellular the most preferred MNP operator in thecountry once again tops in the new subscriber additions, added a totalof 2.39 million new GSM subscribers followed by Uninor which has added 2.12 million new subscribers in Dec’ 2011.
According to the data released by COAI total 7.55 million new GSM subscribers added with 1.07% increase from previous month taking the all-India GSM cellular subscriber base to 639.64 million at the end of December 2011.
Among the leading GSM Mobile Service Operators, Vodafone Essar added 0.90 million new customers, boosting its subscriber base 147.74 million. Bharti Airtel notched up 0.96 million new subscribers during the month, taking its total base to 175.65 million. Videocon once again looses 37,334 customers during December 2011.
State run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) manged 4,23,367 new subscribers boosting its subscriber base 92.56 million while AIRCEL increased its base by over 0.68 million customers to take its subscriber base to 61.64 million. Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL) added just 44,664 new usersduring the month, boosting its total base to 5.42 million at the endof Dec’2011.
Please note : COAI GSM Subscriber base does not include the Reliance Communications (Rcom) and Tata Docomo’s GSM subscriber Base (samenot submitted to COAI).
