Reliance Jio Will Have Largest OFC Network to Support Upcoming 4G/LTE Services

In an interesting update we have come know that Reliance Jio has
completed a major amount of work on laying optic fiber across the
country.
Reliance Jio Infocom has quietly set up nearly 100,000 route kilometer
(rkm) of OFC across the country. And Jio is using mostly cables of 288
fibers or 96 fibers in some places; compared to incumbents' rolled out
cables with 12-24 fibers. That means Jio's OFC network will hold an
enormous amount of data transfer for 4G and fiber based connectivity.
According to sources, Jio's intra-city optic fibre network with
85,000+ km across 700-800 towns is already up.
It should be noted that Mukesh Ambani in 2003-2005 was in charge of
laying countrywide OFC, which is now owned by Reliance Communications,
headed by Mukesh's brother Anil Ambani. RCom currently holds largest
private inter city network. With Jio-Rcom's hand-shake it's obvious
that Jio will definitely change the industry.
Jio is planning to roll out free WiFi services in Hyderabad and other
cities of Telengana although Reliance jio is offering Free 4G WIFI in
Gujarat. Apart from 4G, Jio has plans to offer FTTH services. To make
sure best in the industry OFC backbone Jio is aggressively working on
laying OFC. At present only 10% telecom towers are fiber backed,
microwave backhaul is the choice of the existing operators till now.
But it seems Jio's wide coverage optic fiber network, capable of
mammoth amount of data transfer will reshape the industry.
Being very secret on their whereabouts Reliance Jio keeps a cover on
their progress towards commercial launch of LTE based 4G services in
pan India basis. As a little information leaks outside, many are
assuming that the company may not meet their roll out obligations but
the fact is the Jio people are really busy to make the launch before
the date.
